We assess the impact of our curriculum through an inclusive and robust approach that recognises each learner’s individual strengths, needs and achievements. Our assessment processes are designed to celebrate progress at all levels, from engagement and pre-national curriculum learning to subject-specific progress, capturing development both over time and across different areas of learning.
Each core subject has its own assessment framework, allowing us to track progress in a way that is meaningful. These frameworks value all aspects of development within each area, recognising both linear and lateral development across a wide range of skills. Assessment helps us understand not only what pupils know and can do, but also how they apply their skills in different contexts.
Assessment information is recorded and shared using the Evidence for Learning (EfL) platform. EfL allows staff to capture a rich picture of each learner’s journey through written observations, photographs, videos and reflections. This multimedia evidence can be shared with parents and carers, helping them see and celebrate their child’s progress and supporting a strong home–school partnership.
The impact of the curriculum is continually reviewed through a rigorous quality assurance process, which includes pupil progress meetings, learning walks, moderation, lesson observations, work scrutiny, and external reviews. These processes ensure that assessment informs teaching, curriculum design and next steps in learning.
